The days when there was only one choice and one very high price to fly to Puerto Rico from Santo Domingo may soon be over. American Airlines and its affiliate American Eagle dominated the market with fares of US$300+ being the norm for years. But, as reported in the DR1 Airline Forum, San Juan-based Caribbean Sun may soon join Iberia, Pan American, Air Santo Domingo and Viva in offering reasonably-priced flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Santo Domingo. Caribbean Sun, the region?s newest airline, is planning fares of US$100 roundtrip, even lower than the around US$200 fares already offered by Air Santo Domingo.
