PRD candidacy hopeful opinions

El Caribe newspaper interviewed several of the leading presidential candidacy hopefuls after the overt move by the PPH to push ahead the re-election of President Hip?lito Mej?a yesterday. In a letter addressed to the party and delivered yesterday, the President for the first time says he is the leader of the PPH movement. In the letter, he also requests that the PPH movement, under his direction, be integrated into future meetings of the pre-candidate hopefuls, now convened to prepare for the PRD primaries.
Vice President Milagros Ort?z Bosch says that her decision to seek the nomination does not depend on any other person. ?A candidacy does not guarantee the victory. What guarantees a victory is a candidacy that is strong outside, as well as inside, of the party,? she is quoted in El Caribe newspaper as having said.
Tourism Minister Rafael Suberv? says, ?I confronted President Mej?a in the other primary under even more adverse circumstances. The polls tell me I am the top-ranked pre-candidate; everyone has these polls and they know I am ahead.?
Enmanuel Esquea, former president of the PRD, says: ?Re-election is a topic that brings uneasiness because the people think that the problems we are suffering, not all of which can be attributed to the government, will continue with a possible re-election.?
