The five young men who drove around nude in an SUV along Abraham Lincoln Avenue were being interrogated yesterday by police, to see if their actions had been influenced by the use of drugs.
Meanwhile, the District Attorney for the National District, M?ximo Aristy Caraballo, said that the young streakers could face up to six months of jail time and fines for as much as RD$5,000, according to the Penal Code. Police Chief Jaime Marte announced the arrest made by the police patrol assigned to the area and police spokesperson, Colonel Ram?n Francisco Rodr?guez S?nchez, told reporters that if it can be proved that the men were acting under the influence, they would be charged with drug consumption. Otherwise, he said, they will be charged with public nudity and acting against public morality. Furthermore, the colonel said that there was concern over the fact that no one bothered to call 911 or any of the other police numbers to report the activity, especially considering the fact that the public indecency continued for over four hours.
