Lawyers argue on sale of Baninter properties

The legal defense team of Ram?n B?ez Figueroa ? lawyers Vinicio Castillo and Saman Ju?rez Castillo ? has warned that the properties belonging to their client cannot be sold without a judge?s decision on the matter. The Central Bank authorities are arguing that if a sale is not carried out expeditiously, the properties will lose value and therefore cause further damage to the State, which would not be acceptable. In the List?n Diario, reporters are saying that the State can sell the properties in accordance with Law 72-02, Article 14, which concerns money laundering. The defense lawyers have reminded the Central Bank authorities that any money generated from the sale of the properties must be deposited in a frozen account in the name of B?ez Figueroa, according to the same law.
