Jacinto Peynado has declared that he would hold his own convention, despite losing to Eduardo Estrella in the PRSC presidential primary election. Peynado has not yet accepted Estrella’s victory, and alleges that there was widespread fraud involved. Diario Libre comments in its “El Esp?a” column that the silence from the PRSC’s Quique Ant?n has been noteworthy. Ant?n, who was also a pre-candidate, allied himself to Peynado’s campaign in the final stages of the primaries, but since the inconclusive result has made non-committal statements on the issue, leading to speculation that he is waiting in the wings to assume a key role in any eventual solution to the crisis.
