Police to return to foot patrols

Yesterday afternoon the National Police dispatched 533 newly trained patrol officers to the streets, to prevent petty crimes like purse-snatching, pickpocketing and car break-ins. The newly commissioned ?Foot Patrol? will be stationed in the National District and the major cities throughout the country. According to Police Chief Major General Jaime Marte Martinez, the new beat will allow the citizenry to ?feel safe and satisfied with the duty the officers are performing?. These recruits, who have been trained to show respect for the citizenry, will join the first hundred already incorporated in the Foot Patrol.
