List?n Diario reports that hoteliers met last month to discuss the problem of sexual exploitation of children by foreign visitors. Hoteliers association ASONAHORES has committed its members to supporting all measures against offenders, in order to aid the eradication of these practices, which damage the Dominican Republic?s appeal as a tourist destination. Hoteliers would from now on train their employees in the detection and handling of situations in which children are found to be exploited sexually by tourists. This would be carried out in coordination with the legal body set up for this purpose, the inter-institutional committee for the prevention and combat of commercial sexual exploitation.
