With less than seven weeks to go before the start of the Pan American Games, work has begun on the installation of the synthetic sports track at the Olympic Stadium. List?n Diario reports that German technicians from Conica Technik AG began the installation of the sports surface on Sunday. The track and field events are scheduled for 5-9 August, but the Olympic Stadium will be needed for the opening ceremonies of the games on 1 August. The information reported was provided by architect Rodolfo (Fito) Guzm?n Lara, director of installations for the Organizing Committee of the 2003 Pan American Games. Guzm?n told the List?n that, under normal conditions, a track installation would take 20 to 28 days and that the one here should be finished during the first week of July.
