The government will be allotting two preferential lanes of the Las Americas highway for buses transporting athletes of the 14th Pan American Games, most of whom will be staying at the athletes village situated near the Las Americas International Airport.
The Pan American torch is scheduled to be lit today in Teotihuacan, Mexico, and is expected to arrive in Santo Domingo on 4 July. The president of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Jos? Joaqu?n Puello will be on hand in Mexico for the torch-lighting ceremony.
The Organizing Committee of the Games says that the facilities under construction for the Games are 90% completed and will be ready no later than 15 July, as reported in Hoy newspaper.
The Games are scheduled for August 1-17.
