The executive editor of the List?n Diario, Emilio Herasme Pe?a, has suggested in his analysis in today?s List?n Diario that Elena Viyella de Paliza, as president of the National Council of Business (CONEP), should take a more active role in the nation?s activities, but without getting into politics. Herasme Pe?a says that right now Dominican society has a valuable opportunity to rely on a woman ?uncontaminated? by politics, who can take a forefront position if she so desires. He calls Viyella ?refreshing and energetic?, and ?responsible and watchful? of her position at the top of the business community.
According to the veteran journalist, many national observers say Viyella has increased her prestige since she assumed the post of president of CONEP. Suggesting that she avoid the claws of politics, Herasme professes that now is a wonderful time to gather the nation?s best people who can become a source of pressure from beyond the political and group interests, and contribute to making a much better country. The reporter cites the fact that the Le?n Jim?nes family has become more involved in national issues and the presence of Viyella as rallying points for other important, non-political families to get involved in the nation?s destiny.
