Danilo del Rosario, the new director of the Center for Exports and Investment (CEI-RD), announced the opening of 22 branches of the CEI-RD organization worldwide. Del Rosario recently engineered the merge of the Center for the Promotion of Exports (Cedopex) and the Office for the Promotion of Investment (OPI-RD) into the new institution, whose new offices abroad will seek to expand trade avenues. Del Rosario was also the former head of the two agencies and now with a ministerial level rank, he will oversee the work of the new department. ?Our strategy is to promote investment in foreign exchange generating companies and to seek to diversify our export offers so as to strengthen our balance of payments,? he said after President Hip?lito Mej?a swore him in as minister.
Del Rosario said his department would work to make Dominican exports more competitive by eliminating red tape and customs barriers, such as the ITBIS and the advance tax on exports.
