No evidence that terrorists entered

President Hip?lito Mej?a said yesterday that although ?it could happen?, there was no evidence that 10 suspected Iraqi terrorists had used the Dominican Republic as a bridge to travel to the US. The US Department of National Security (DNS) suspects that the ten men ? believed to be connected to the deposed Saddam Hussein regime – crossed the border into Haiti, from where they boarded a boat to the US coast. The Dominican Republic cannot control all movement across the Haiti border, said Mej?a, ?just as the Americans cannot control all the Mexicans who cross onto their territory.? Likewise, the Immigration Minister Miguel V?zquez said that if the Iraqis had entered the DR on legitimate tourist visas there was no way they could be investigated.
