President Mej?a has scheduled continued talks with community groups, unions, and professional groups with regard to the new compensation package to be offered by the government to stem some of the effects of the IMF accord. The President also called on his economic team to explain the adjustments required by the IMF accord, and to provide further details on the compensation package, which has already been assigned an additional RD$120 million. Apparently, the plan will include supplying subsidized food items and housing projects. The money needed to implement the project, however, surpasses the budget allotted to the reduction of poverty for 2003.
