ANJE wants a hold on tax package

Marisol Vicens, the president of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE), requested that the Chamber of Deputies delay the passage of the so-called ?Little Package? of tax adjustments until next year, when the tax reform announced by the government would enter into effect. The young business leader called the move to ratify the new ?a lack of harmony and coherence among the various institutions at this time,? especially since the agreements with the IMF require a tax reform by May 2004.
Vicens asked the deputies to put the matter aside because the country is now a considerably different economic situation. The ANJE president said that instead of talking about the Tax Correction Project, the deputies should be thinking about the tax reform that will be required in just 10 months.
