Crisis in the leading party

The Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) is in crisis as President Mej?a announced his decision to go for a second term. As reported in today?s Hoy, it seems that the mediators within the party are juggling three possibilities. Ivelisse Prats de P?rez, a member of the PRD mediation committee, said that among the formulas that have been proposed is one that would have a plebiscite or referendum choose the candidate. Another proposal is to carry out a survey among party members. A third solution would be to offer certain positions within the PRD and the next government to Mej?a and his PPH (Hip?lito Presidential Project) associates. According to Prats de P?rez, these proposals are just the raw material with which the mediators are working, hoping to overcome this critical juncture.
