The Central Electoral Board (JCE) is back at work today with an agenda of 80 items pending decision. Among these is the request of the board?s former president, Ram?n Morel Cerda, to fire JCE secretary, Antonio Lockward, and to create electoral offices in the new cities of Villa La Mata in Cotu?, Quisqueya in San Pedro de Macor?s and Las Gu?ranas. Among the thornier problems to be dealt with is the process to be used to gain a consensus of opinion among the four key departments that will handle the next election, these being C?dula (the personal ID card and voter registration card), Elections, Voter Registration, and Electronic Information Systems. These accords must be approved and agreed on by the political parties. Another interesting item on the agenda is the report by Roberto Rosario on the meeting he held in New York City with personnel from the United Nations and regarding financial and technical support for voter registration and the elections themselves.
