A recent study conducted by the Technical Office of the Ministry of Sports revealed that the Dominican Republic could win between 25 and 35 medals in the upcoming Pan Am Games. Between 11 and 15 different sports are given a chance at medals.
Perhaps the best bets are Track, Archery, Men?s Handball, Boxing, Karate, Wrestling, Judo, Weightlifting, Tae Kwon Do, Men?s Softball and Women?s Volleyball. Baseball, cycling, bowling and Men?s Volleyball are given an outside chance to score medals. Track, Karate and Judo are expected to bring home the most medals, with perhaps the surest chance at gold coming in the form of F?lix S?nchez in the 400-meter hurdles event. As current world champion, S?nchez is having an outstanding season in Europe and is expected to win here at home.
