Diario Libre reports that Vice President Milagros Ort?z Bosch is the strongest of the PRD contenders for the presidential candidacy. Of those polled, 16.7% would prefer Ort?z Bosch as the PRD presidential candidate, compared to 13.4% for Tourism Minister Rafael Suberv? Bonilla, and 10.6% for PRD president Hatuey Decamps. President Hip?lito Mej?a scored 5.8%, Enmanuel Esquea 3.3%, Ram?n Alburquerque 2.7%, Jos? Rafael Abinader 2.2%, Jos? Rodr?guez Soldevila 1.9% and Rafael Flores Estrella 1.2%.
Among PRD party members, Ort?z Bosch received a 26% share of the vote, compared to 22% for Mej?a, 18.4% for Suberv? and 9.7% for Decamps.
Writing in El Caribe newspaper, Bernardo Vega points out that Milagros Ort?z Bosch has the lowest rejection rate among the PRD pre-candidates. The Gallup poll recently conducted indicated that 55.6% of the electorate would expressly not vote for Mej?a, versus 13.2% of the people who felt the same way about Ort?z Bosch.
