Diario Libre quotes the statistic from the recent Gallup-Omnimedia poll, which found that 85% of the Dominican public believes that there is ?a lot? of corruption in government circles. The perceived corruption is lowest among supporters of the party in power, the PRD. That belief is slightly higher among women and rural dwellers. A contrast between the classes can also be discerned, with the middle (85.4%) and lower classes (85.9%) speaking out, compared to the upper classes, of whom only 72% said they felt a strong presence of corruption.
Of the remaining 15%, 12.8% believed there was ?some? corruption and less than 1% believed there was none.
