Orlando Gil, a List?n Diario political news commentator, explains that when Andres Bautista was chosen president of the Senate, he supposedly accepted that Jesus V?squez Mart?nez would be next in the position. Bautista wants to continue on, but his aspirations have divided the senators. Gil explains that the deciding vote is in the hands of the three PRD senators that are loyal to Hatuey Decamps, president of the PRD. Decamps leads the party faction that opposes the reelection of President Hip?lito Mej?a. Both Bautista and V?squez have been staunch supporters of the Mej?a PPH faction. Both senators also covet the vote of the single PRSC and PLD senators.
