Gustavo Nobao, the former President of Ecuador, has requested asylum at the Dominican embassy in Quito, according to reports from the Ministry of Foreign Relations carried in Hoy newspaper. Noboa, accused of corruption by the
current government, has requested the protection of the Dominican embassy for reasons of political persecution. The Ministry of Foreign Relations reported that at around noontime yesterday they received the information that the former statesman had
presented himself at the home of the embassy?s charg? d?affaires to formally request refuge.
