The capital city of the Dominican Republic has an expansive 30 kilometers of green space within its limits, or 5% of the 104 square kilometers that make up Santo Domingo. These parks are the Jard?n Bot?nico
Nacional, Mirador Sur, Litoral Sur, Eugenio Maria de Hostos, Independencia, Duarte, Enriquillo and Cayetano Germos?n.
Other nearby parks, such as the Parque del Este (where the Pan Am Games venues were built), the Parque Mirador del Norte and the Parque Zool?gico Nacional are part of the newly created Provinces of Santo Domingo Este and Santo Domingo Norte.
