The increase is even more significant when taking into account the upcoming Pan American Games and the additional attractions for tourists. During the first six months of the year, tourism from the United States, accounting for 32% of the total number, increased by 27%, Canadian tourists have increased by 20% and European tourism is up 16%. The average tourist spends an estimated US$114 dollars per day, with an average stay of 9 days, according to the Central Bank.
