According to Hoy, the Executive Commission of the PRSC has instructed its legislators not to participate in any chambers where the proposed Law of Lemas might be discussed. The PRSC told the press that it considers the new proposal to be an unnatural process for the 16 May elections. Only 14 of the 35 PRSC deputies were present at the meeting, as well as two thirds of the members of the Executive Commission. The commission ordered its party’s legislators to distance themselves from any attempt to promote the violation of the legal statutes that govern the elections. Victor Manuel Tejada, editor of the El Caribe newspaper, nevertheless, commented on the CDN radio talk show this morning that if the PRSC deputies do not attend the session, the PRD could have quorum to pass the Ley de Lemas.
