Hatuey Decamps, the ousted president of the PRD, told El Caribe on 13 February that five of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) judges respond to instructions from Agriculture Minister Eligio Jaquez, one of the leaders of the PPH faction of the PRD that is backing the re-election efforts of President Mejia. He named these as being: “Salvador Ramos, Ramon Hernandez Dominguez, Rafael Diaz Vasquez (who President Mejia has singled out as being a close friend and who is the JCE’s treasurer), Jose Luis Tavarez Tavarez and Nelson Gomez. Roberto Rosario allegedly acts in the interests of the PLD and Rafaelina Peralta Arias of the PRSC. Other judges are Luis Arias Nunez and Luis Nelson Pantaleon, who were also recommended by the PRD for their positions.
