El Caribe says that Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch reacted yesterday to the comment from Hipolito Mejia campaign team that they had not yet chosen the running mate for Mejia by by saying, “If they need a vice-presidential candidate, let them place a classified ad in the papers.”
Eligio Jaquez, as chief of President Hipolito Mejia’s re-election campaign, said the PRD party was waiting for Vice-President Milagros Ortiz Bosch and Rafael Subervi Bonilla to join the party’s efforts to stay in power. Jaquez said that no decision had been made as to who will accompany Hipolito Mejia on the ballot in May as Vice-Presidential candidate. Rafael Diaz Filpo, a PRD official and spokesperson for Fello Subervi’s presidential bid, told reporters that the PPH faction of the PRD should ask President Mejia to withdraw his candidacy instead of asking Subervi to join him on the ticket.
