The Corporacion Dominicana de Empresas Electricas Estatales (CDEEE) has announced the opening of a public tender to select a firm to establish a fiber-optic network in the Dominican Republic. The CDEEE said that it has carried out the technical and feasibility studies for the project and invited firms to prequalify for the tender. The prequalification specification documents are available in Spanish as of 9 March 2004 for a fee of RD$5,000. Submissions must be received no later than 12 pm, 8 April 2004. In a paid advertisement carried in the press, the CDEEE asserted that the companies would have to present a proposal to them for the financing, design, supply, installation, operation, maintenance and marketing of the new network by 26 April 2004.
