President Hip?lito Mej?a on the campaign trail for the PRD over the weekend
said that the worst is over and the crisis, too. He promised Dominicans better
times ahead. His campaign slogan is: ?Now, for the good times.? Mej?a is
stressing that government measures now in place will tackle the economic
problems. He is promising that if he is reelected food prices will go down and
he will fulfill promises he was not able to before because of the collapse of
the banks. ?I assure you that the crisis is over. The crisis is over and without
doubt there will be better times ahead.?
PRSC presidential candidate, Eduardo Estrella, as reported in Hoy newspaper,
agrees with President Mej?a?s statement that better days are coming. ?President
Mej?a says that the worse is over, and that is true. The worst is over because
he will be voted out of government on 16 May,?
