Technical Secretary of the Presidency Carlos Despradel and the Central Bank?s
Apolinar Veloz began talks in Paris, where they attempt to set the stage to
discuss the renegotiation of outstanding debts next month with the Paris Club.
Today the mission team will hold talks with the group delegates from Japan,
France, Spain and Germany. Tomorrow the team leaves for Spain for direct
consultations with the Spanish Minister of the Hacienda (Treasury). The
Dominican ambassador to the US, Hugo Guiliani Cury, will hold talks with the US
Treasury Department, also a member of the Paris Club. The Dominican proposal
will request relief from payment of US$320 million of the US$852 million due
this year, including Brady bonds as well as sovereign bonds issued last year.
