Propane gas scarcity

A shortage of propane gas continues to affect vehicles that depend of this kind of fuel as well as households. Those sourcing the higher-priced industrial propane gas have not suffered the same supply problems. El Caribe newspaper points out today the contradictions between the Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa – 50% government and 50% Shell) sources that say that the fuel supply has normalized and the vendor companies that say they are not receiving the orders they are placing. Dominicans continue to queue up to purchase the fuel. Propane gas in the DR is imported by Refidomsa and Coastal, as reported in El Caribe. Refidomsa sells 70% of the 14 million gallons of propane gas for domestic use sold in the DR. El Caribe says that 700,000 gallons per day are consumed on average in the Dominican Republic.
