More election stuff

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced its selection of the American company Identrix to audit the photographic voter registration lists, at a cost of over US$300,000. Luis Arias, the chief justice of the JCE, and Rafaelina Peralta were the JCE spokespersons, along with Hans Hertell, the US ambassador who revealed the US had donated US$325,000 to the Organization of American States (OAS) to assist the outside observation of the Dominican elections. According to the Listin Diario, Luis Arias headed a seven-judge panel that considered seven companies vying for the contract that commissions the verification process of the photo IDs of 10% of the voter registration lists, and 500,000 personal ID cards (cedulas) taken randomly. According to Arias, Identrix has done similar work for the state of Mexico, where it audited 16 million voter registration cards.
