Carlos Dore Cabral of the PLD?s political committee complained that the Mejia-administration announced visit from the director of UNESCO, Koichiro Matsuura, for the ?opening? of the UNESCO office in the Colonial City. Dore says that the UNESCO office was formally opened during the Leonel Fernandez administration in 1998 with the visit of then-director Federico Mayor Zaragoza. Dore complained that the Ministry of Culture and government of Mejia had replaced the plaque that commemorated the 1998 event with one that credits the opening of the UNESCO office to the Mejia government.
