Parmalat for sale in DR

Parmalat?s Dominican Republic operation is up for sale. According to a story in Diario Libre, Parmalat expects to sell is processing plants in the DR and other Latin American countries as part of a drastic international restructuring process. The plan seeks to downsize the food company into a smaller milk and juice company of around 30 brands, down from the present 120 brands it offers. According to company sources, six of these brands account for 80% of the company?s total sales. Brands sold in the DR that are to be kept are Parmalat and Lactis milks, Santal juices, Chef cream and the soy-based drink Sensational Soy.
