The three top political parties agreed to suspend their electoral activities during the Easter Week (5-11 April), as requested by Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez. The candidates will reportedly take the time off to spend with their families prior to the final five-week stretch of the campaign. While the PRSC, PLD and PRD agreed to forego their usual activities, subtle campaigning can be expected during the holiday period. President Hipolito Mejia will be abroad from Saturday, 10 April through Monday, 12 April as he hits the campaign trail on the East Coast of the United States.
