The new Miss Dominican Republic, Larissa del Mar Fiallo, skirted questions about her political inclinations. As reported in Hoy newspaper, when asked whom she would vote for, she said she owes everything to all Dominicans, regardless of their political, social or religious preferences. Nevertheless, she feels the country is going through a ?moment of economic darkness,? but feels it will make it out successfully, be it during this government or the next. Fiallo says that the DR is an independent society that knows how to brave its problems and has been known to fall only to rise again.
According to the national beauty, her nickname is a combination of her two given names: ?I am a patriot and a fan of the DR, and that is why I have always proudly used my nickname, Larimar.?
