The Central Electoral Board (JCE) recorded disappointing numbers yesterday for its announced dry run to verify voter registration cards and polling places saw less than a 3% turnout. Extremely few people appeared at the polling stations to see if they were registered properly. According to JCE Judge Rafaelina Peralta, not even 3% of voters showed up to check their data at the National District and Monte Plata, where she was supervising the exercise. In the more populated areas of the Cibao Valley the turnout was even less, as people did not want to get wet in the continual drizzle that fell all weekend long. The one positive that Peralta could mention was that no new problems cropped up across the nation, and the questions that arose were quickly taken care of by the computer system.
In New York City, more than 25% of the registered voters went to their polling stations to verify their listing. The glitch that emerged in New York, however, was a shortage of technicians at certain polling stations. At PS 52, for example, there was only one person to handle seven stations.
