Yesterday, the Junta Central Electoral (JCE) declared the recent voter verification exercise a valuable endeavor. Judge Nelson Gomez said, ?Democracy has its cost in pesos, but those pesos are necessary to ensure that no one?s rights are violated.? He indicated that there was good enough participation, with approximately 20% of the electorate?s participation. JCE Judge Rafaelina Peralta alleged that the effort had not reached even 3% of the electorate in Distrito Nacional, Santo Domingo and Monte Plata. Voters may continue to verify that the polling station indicated on their voting card (cedula) is listed correctly by going to the JCE?s website (http://www.jce.do) or the voting verification mobile units also mentioned on the website.
