The Ministry of Public Works announced that the intersection of Maximo Gomez and 27 Febrero avenues will be closed until Monday. The intersection was closed off to traffic since yesterday, causing major traffic bottlenecks to those moving in the area of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. The RD$14-million pedestrian walkway is being installed. News reports indicate that it had been scheduled to be in place for the August 2003 Pan American Games, but construction was delayed and thus it is now being installed. Those who can should stay away from the area so as not to be inconvenienced by the slowed traffic.
