The Center for Exports (CEI-RD) and the Japanese Embassy have announced a joint
program to advise Dominican companies on exportation to Japan. The goal of the
program is to conquer new export markets and improve local companies? export
platforms, as well as attract new foreign capital investment. Five Japanese
experts will participate in the three-year program through a US$3-million
donation from the Japanese government. The program was presented at the CEI-RD
by the director of the CEI-RD, Danilo del Rosario, and Japanese Ambassador Haruo
Okamoto.
As reported in Hoy newspaper, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
oversees the program. The five experts are Akira Abe, Sadao Goshima, Katsuichi
Chikazawa, Tadashi Morita and Ryoei Kuwae. They will be based at the CEI-RD and
will assist the departments of Promotion of Investments, Exports, Development,
Economic Studies and Interinstitutional Relations.
During the event, del Rosario expressed the Dominican government?s appreciation
of Japan, as represented by Ambassador Haruo Okamoto and the deputy director of
JICA, Norio Yonezaki.
