President Hipolito Mejia extended the electoral national holiday until Monday (17 May) at 6 pm. The holiday officially begins at 12pm on Saturday and would have ended on Monday morning, but the President yesterday decided to extend it until the evening, saying that people need time to return from their journeys to vote in their hometowns. President Mejia yesterday in his closing rally speech said that the electoral results would be known by 6 pm on Monday.
