Late last night, after the outcome of the 2004 election had been made known, Penn Schoen & Berland released a poll that had been carried out at the deadline of the election. These results were presented by journalist Juan Bolivar Diaz on Channel 11 on Sunday evening. The company had requested that these numbers not be released until the final results of the election had been publicized. The Penn Schoen poll said that 52% would vote for Leonel Fernandez, 35% for Hipolito Mejia and 11% for Eduardo Estrella.
Penn Schoen also carried out an exit poll and released the results abroad, making this the first available news story on the most likely and eventual win of Fernandez.
