Bachata Symphony in NYC

Carnegie Hall is booked on 17 September for the presentation of Bachata Sinfonica, an evening on which the popular tropical beat will be played by symphony orchestra musicians. El Caribe reports that the performance of the Orquesta Filarmonica de Santo Domingo, conducted by Amaury Sanchez, will make a first appearance at the esteemed venue prior to resuming a tour that will take the show to Miami, Spain and possibly other countries in Europe. Ralph Mercado is the producer of the New York show. William Liriano, the spokesman for the production, says a repeat performance will be given in Santo Domingo at the National Theater in October of this year. The show won a coveted Casandra award earlier this year.

Bachata Sinfonica at Carnegie Hall could feature performances by Monchy y Alexandra, Sonia Silvestre, Elvis Martinez, Yoskar Sarante, Jose Manuel Calderon, Zacarias Ferreira, Inocencio Cruz, Joe Veras and Leonardo Paniagua among others.
