Dominican Amelia Vega, Miss Universe 2003, will be crowning her successor Tuesday night, ending a very successful year as the first Dominican Miss Universe. The competition will take place in Quito, Ecuador. Those who have access to cable TV or satellite TV can follow the event on NBC from 8 pm on Tuesday, 1 June.
Amelia Vega has announced that once her commitments with Miss Universe end, she takes on a new challenge. Under the wing of Emilio Estefan, husband to Latin pop artist Gloria Estefan, she begins her career as an international pop artist. Her coach in this effort is her uncle, the legendary Latin American music composer and performer, Juan Luis Guerra. Her productions will be launched under Full Moon, one of Estefan?s companies.
