The Dominican Republic will have contenders in six events at the start of the Athens Olympic Games. Dominicans will compete in boxing, judo, weight lifting, table tennis, skeet, and volleyball beginning on 14 August. The Dominican contingent will also compete in the track and field events that begin on 20 August, wrestling as of 22 August, and tae-kwondo as of 26 August. This second division of the delegation is scheduled to travel on 18 August. So far, the Dominican athletic delegation will be made up of 40 athletes: 23 men and 17 women.
