The city government of Santo Domingo has ordered the removal of all illegal installations along the sea-bordering boulevard known as El Malecon (George Washington Avenue). The initiative comes in reaction to a story in Hoy newspaper yesterday regarding the lax attitude of Mayor Roberto Salcedo?s government towards the construction of makeshift businesses along the ocean-fronting promenade?s seaside. The municipality of Santo Domingo reported that it had ordered the removal of 12 improvised toilet shacks and 17 other stalls irregularly located on Plazas Omar Torrijos and Juan Baron.
