Barak in Congress

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak spoke before the Dominican Congress yesterday and urged that all nations, great and small, join forces to fight terrorism, dictatorships, drugs and the illegal traffic of people and arms. In his speech ?National and Regional Security Threats in a Global Setting,? Barak said the United States had made a mistake in dismantling the Iraqi army and the Baathist Party. Nevertheless, he praised the results of unseating Saddam Hussein and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Speaking before the National Assembly, Barak was surrounded by a large contingent of security forces as he spoke out against terrorists that have taken advantage of the new global technology in communications in order to exploit previously guarded security arrangements. While mentioning all of the possibilities that exist with regard to terrorism, Barak emphasized the need for regional integration to fight the threat.
