PLD Deputy Minou Tavarez Mirabal said yesterday that President Hipolito Mejia tunes in and out in his role as President of the Republic. ?President Mejia is President to inaugurate works, but not to fulfill commitments such as, for example, those signed with the IMF,? she said, as reported in El Caribe. She commented that the government is now trying to get across the idea that the tax increase proposal is an independent plan of the incoming PLD government, when the proposal was carried out by the present government and international consultants. ?The government signed an agreement with the IMF committing to present the tax reform in June,? she stated, adding that the Mejia administration governs ?selectively? and that there were no words in the dictionary to appropriately describe the outgoing authorities.
