The Santiago Chamber of Commerce and Production called for the use of mourning symbols as acknowledgement of the death of the national electric system. Chamber president Luis Jose Bonilla Bojos told the editor of Santiago?s La Informacion that the Chamber appreciated the editorial support it received for its position regarding the crisis. He added that the Chamber was suggesting that people wear black mourning apparel as a gesture to emphasize the demise of the electric system in Santiago and the Cibao. According to Bonilla Bojos, the idea is to show the outgoing and incoming authorities that they must find solutions to the ?dangerous situation? that now threatens the peace and stability of the country.? The Chamber reminded the newspaper editor that electricity production is now at levels that were standard in 1980.
