The current scarcity of propane gas was much alleviated yesterday in Santo Domingo once the tank trucks started to roll. Reports still told, however, of many service stations without diesel or gasoline fuels for sale. A press release from the DR?s refinery said the company was meeting more than the 60% of demand they usually handle. REFIDOMSA apologized for the inconveniences that many were experiencing, but guaranteed it would continue to import and dispatch the propane needed to fulfill their quota of the market share. The press release said the refinery had not rationed diesel fuel and that it had received one ship loaded with 7.56 million gallons of product on Sunday and expected another ship today with 6 million gallons of fuels. Premium gasoline had not been rationed, but it appears that regular gasoline was limited to 90% of the usual amount until today, when 7.14 million gallons are expected to arrive the refinery. According to La Informacion from Santiago de los Caballeros, the local ANADEGAS members have reported that 50% of the local stations are closed due to lack of reserves, while the remaining 50% lack one fuel or another.
