Migration employees jailed

As reported in El Nacional, the National Department of Investigations (DNI) detained three employees of the government?s Migration Department in their scrutiny of numerous Chinese nationals holding DR residencies. During the course of their investigation, the agents detected a forged signature of Migration Director Siquio Ng de la Rosa, as well as a falsified official seal affixed to various documents.

Over the past few days, numerous Chinese nationals have arrived in the country with DR residencies in hand, despite the fact they have never resided in the country, a discovery that prompted anxiety between immigration and airport authorities. Ng de la Rosa has offered all available resources to the investigators with the goal of establishing responsibility for the illegal entries. The three detained Migration employees, whose names have not been released, are being held at the DNI headquarters in Santo Domingo to establish whether or not they have anything to do with phony documents and signatures. The Chinese detained at the airports were also brought to DNI headquarters, but it is not known where they are currently being held.
